Travelling to Oslo

By air
Oslo Airport Gardermoen connects Oslo to all the main cities in Europe and is 45 km from the venue. It takes only 20 min to get to Oslo Central Railway Station by the Airport Express train, Flytoget or 25 min to the National Theatre Station which is within walking distance from the venue (fare for both options: NOK 160). The SAS shuttle bus connects the airport directly with the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel departing every 20 min (fare: NOK 120). It takes about 50 min to the hotel. Taxis offer fixed prices from and to the airport varying between NOK 400 and 700 depending on the company and time of the day. Please contact the taxi information desk in the arrival hall.

By ferry
There are also several ferry connections from Denmark (Copenhagen, Fredrikshavn and Hirtshals) and Germany (Kiel) to Oslo, and it takes only a few minutes to drive from the various terminals to the venue.

Entry formalities
Norway takes part in the Schengen co-operation and hence foreign nationals from countries within the Schengen areas do not have to show their passport when entering Norway. An ID-card is however necessary and it is therefore recommended to bring a passport after all. For all other nationals a passport is necessary and for some countries a visa is required as well. General rule: A visitor's visa may be issued for tourist travel, family visits, official assignment, business travel, study or for other reasons. A visitor's visa is valid for a maximum of three months. For further information visit the following the web sites:

Electricity
Electricity in Norway is 220 V AC with 50-Hz cycles. Plugs used are round-ended, two-pronged, continental plugs.

Currency
Norwegian currency consists of "kroner" (NOK) and "øre"; 100 øre make up one krone. The exchange rate as of 1 January 2006 was 100 NOK = 14.8 USD or 12.5 EUR. Currency exchange banks are located at major international airports, as well as rail and ship terminals, usually located in the arrival halls. All Norwegian banks and major post offices exchange foreign currency. You may also withdraw money with your VISA card from abundant cash points in Oslo. Use of credit cards is widespread in Norway, and most stores, restaurants and taxis in Norway accept all major credit cards.
