Instructions for Short Paper submission

Extended deadline for submission of Short Papers is May 8, 2006.

In order to be accepted, Short Papers must be prepared and submitted using the online Short Paper submission form (link, coming from Congress-Conference) . New this year is that Short Paper must be submitted as a pdf document. This ensures that the source file information is preserved and your Short Paper appears in Organohalogen Compounds exactly as you have submitted it. Faxed and e-mailed short papers will not be accepted. Further instructions are given below.

Your short paper should fall within one of the proposed session topics which can be found here.

Please bear in mind that incorrectly prepared short papers will be rejected without review.

An example of the required short paper format can be viewed here.

How to prepare the Short Paper

Language
All papers must be typed in English.

Size
The entire paper must not exceed 4 pages, including title, authors, figures and tables. Use 2.5 cm margins on each side and 4.0 cm margins on the top and bottom.

Font and Font Size
The required letter font is “Times New Roman”. The text of the short paper should be in 10-point type and single-spaced, block adjusted. The headings should be in bold. Leave one line blank between paragraphs.

Structure
Each short paper should include: Title and Authors, Introduction (please be brief!), Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements and References. Please omit any summary of the short paper and do not use statements such as “results will be presented”.

Titles
The title of the short paper should be written in capital letters, Times New Roman, size 12, bold, mid adjusted and containing maximum 200 characters.

Authors and addresses
The surname of all authors should be written followed by the first and mid names given as first letter without dots, the presenting author underlined. The full name and address of all institutes are required.

References
The references cited in the text should be numbered consecutively as superscripts (e.g., something 1,2 ) and listed in full at the end. Spell out the complete list of authors and do not use “et al.”. The name of the journal should be written in italics. Omit the title of the paper. List references in exactly the same manner as shown on the example here.

Format
The short paper must be converted to a single pdf-file (Adobe Acrobate) including text, tables, and figures, with particular attention paid to minimizing and optimizing graphics. File size should not exceed 1 MB. Only on-line uploading of pdf-files will be possible.

How to submit a Short Paper
The online submission forms are self explanatory. Please follow the instructions carefully. Remember to indicate the session topic which is most relevant for your paper and add between 3 and 10 key words from the key word list. These key words will, besides the title, be used when searching the Organohalogen Compounds volume of DIOXIN2006.

Confirmation of receipt of the submission will be sent to the registering author by e-mail. Authors who submit short papers prior to the deadline, May 1, 2006, will be notified by e-mail of the acceptance or rejection of their short papers by June 19, 2006.

If you have any questions regarding the short paper please send an e-mail to: abstractdioxin2006@congrex.no

You must indicate on the online registration form if you are interested in being considered for an Otto Hutzinger Student Award.
